After doing some extensive research I decided to try the
South Beach Diet. While reading the book I found out
that a lot of what I was eating was not anywhere near
as healthy for me as I believed.
I have known for a while that potatoes were not
good for me because they are a very high
glycemic index food. But I would still eat
them at least once or twice a week. I also
thought that since I was eating Stone Ground
Wheat Bread that I was ok. In fact, I was eating
sandwiches at least once a day.
Well, over the last week I have totally cut out bread.
I mean not even one slice. In addition, I have not had
one helping of potatoes. The good thing is I have not
gone hungry. I just cut out some "bad" carbs.
I truly can not believe how quickly my body has
responded to these changes. I have lost 8 pounds and
more importantly my blood sugar has dropped
dramatically. In fact, I had to cut back on my insulin
this week because twice I woke up around 5:00
and my blood sugar was too low.
So diet really can help us. As if you didn't know that
already.
In the coming days I am going to share with you
my supplement regiment. Now I know that supplements
don't help everyone. But in my case they have helped me.
